Earthwise PWO2200 2,000 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure Washer Review

Earthwise PWO2200 2,000 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure WasherReceived this from Amazon yesterday and have spent the day doing a number of projects with it (driveway, vinyl siding, engine compartment of a car I am working on, etc...). Overall, I am very pleased. The pressure is pretty impressive for an electric unit and the nozzle allows for easy adjustment of the stream width.

The quality of the device is similar to what you would get from a residential vacuum cleaner, which means that it seems like it will hold up ok, but there are parts that could easily be broken if you were careless. The water input is probably the most likely thing to break as it is plastic and someone tripping over the hose could break it off. Also, you have to push pretty hard the first time or two to get the quick-connect to catch. That said, for a non-commercial unit, it is not bad at all and seems as good as anything else in the price range if not better.

The biggest complaint I have is with the instruction manual. It tells you nothing. I could not figure out how to get the detergent dispenser to work and called their customer service number. I mentally prepared myself for the multiple phone prompts and broken english, but I was pleasantly suprised as person with an American accent picked up the phone immediately, was friendly, and had the information to help me (the detergent only works on low pressure - again, something that should be in the manual, but isn't).

If you are looking for an inexpensive, around-the-house pressure washer and need something a little more powerful than the baseline units, this one would be a good consideration.

Snap On Tools 2000 PSI Electric Power Pressure Washer Review

Snap On Tools 2000 PSI Electric Power Pressure WasherI had a very nice gas powered, 2,600 psi pressure washer for a few years. It had a Honda engine, and was insanely powerful. The downside: It took up too much room in my garage, the tires kept getting low because I didn't use it much, and it was loud. You are also not supposed to let the engine run when youaren't washing (wears out the pump), so if you want to use it to rinse off sections of your car while washing, you are constantly turning it off, then pull starting again. You also have the issue of the gas getting old if you don't use it, fumes, and the the exhaust gets hot so you need to keep your kids away from it. The pressure is so strong you need to be really careful too, it can damage some material.Bottom line....for my occasional, around the house use, it was overkill. I sold it to free up room in my garage, and figured I could live without one.

After realizing I miss having a pressure washer (I ride dirt bikes and they get muddy), I bought this Snap On 2,000 PSI electric unit at Costco, mostly because you can return anything anytime at Costco with no problems, and I have not read good things about electric pressure washers, so I figured I'd try it and if it's not strong enough or breaks I can bring it back.Got it home, it's simple to set up, and within a few minutes I was using it with my 8 year old daughter to clean clumps of mud off my dirt bike. All I can say is based on one use, I am absolutely thrilled. It's super quiet, the pressure is the perfect strength for general cleaning, and it stores away in even a very small corner of your garage.Plus, the pump only comes on when you pull the handle, so you don't have to turn it on and off during a job.The fittings are metal, so I suspect they will hold up, but time will tell.Besides, if it breaks, I'll just take it back to Costco for a new one.

This unit has a lot of plastic on it, including the wheels; it is very obviously designed for light use by homeowners who are careful with their stuff. My guess is for any kind of commercial application this little guy wouldn't last long, but for home use: it seems perfect.

The bottom line:If you need a pressure washer that's going to get used hours at at time, you loan it out a lot, or it gets used on a job site, buy a gas one....hands down, no question. But if you think you are going to use it once in a while to wash your cars, your patio furniture, clean out garbage cans, etc....I think you will be thrilled with this unit.Especially when you put it away for months at at time....

Campbell Hausfeld PW1550 1,550 PSI 1.5 GPM Electric Pressure Washer With 20-Foot Hose Review

Campbell Hausfeld PW1550 1,550 PSI 1.5 GPM Electric Pressure Washer With 20-Foot HoseI'm definitely glad we got the more powerful washer, although I might have been a bit happier with something even a little more powerful.
The handle is somewhat difficult for a woman to handle. There's no locking function to keep the machine engaged. As a result, you have to keep changing hands.
But the washer works fairly well, especially if the wood is pre-treated with a cleaning solution.

Karcher 2.640-959.0 Pressure Washer T-Racer Wide Area Surface Cleaner (T100) for up to 2,300 psi Review

Karcher 2.640-959.0 Pressure Washer T-Racer Wide Area Surface Cleaner for up to 2,300 psiI just purchased the T-100 surface cleaner at Lowe's.I don't know if it was on clearance but it was very inexpensive so definitely worth trying.First, let me say that the instructions say this is not a scrubber so if you need scrubbing this won't be the product for you.It is also not a commercial product.

I first used the T-100 on my cement driveway which is painted. It did a very good job but since the cement wasn't that dirty the results were not a good test.I moved on to cleaning my pavers which were black with mildew and the T-100 got rid of that mildew in short order. My pavers are close to a fence and in the past when using a pressure washer wand the sand has been blown out of the paver crevices and stuck all over the fence which created another cleaning job.Not so with the T-100--it keeps all debris on the ground and not over your fence, your walls, and you, so for this benefit the T-100 is great.

After using the T-100 on my pavers I moved on to my patio area which has large cement stone squares with a pattern indentation and also has some popcorn stone squares. The T-100 did an excellent job on the cement squares with the pattern even cleaning out the indented pattern area.It did not do well on the popcorn-type squares but I did not expect it to do well since dirt accumulates down into the popcorn-like material and is difficult to get out even with the strong power washer wand.I hate those popcorn things--they gotta go!I also have a small smooth cement slab by the back door which had a lot of mildew and the T-100 cleaned it with no problem and kept the walls and door from flying debris and water.I rinsed all the cement off with my garden hose or the vario attachment to my Karcher pressure washer after I was done with the T-100.I still have stains on some of the cement and I think those stains are due to fertilizer dropping on it and probably requires a chemical to clean up.One thing I would do differently next time is to be sure to blow all the debris off the patio first and make sure there are no small pebbles or rocks since they could damage the turning spray arms in the T-100 which are plastic.

My next chore was cleaning a painted wood deck.I was hoping the T-100 would not remove the paint--it didn't and it left everything nice and clean. In the past I have cleaned the deck by scrubbing it on my hands and knees so the T-100 made that chore a breeze and was done in a fraction of the time.

I live in Florida and after a daily rain for a week or so we get a lot of black mildew on driveways, walkways, and patios. The mildew can be removed with the power washer using the high pressure wand but it is slow going since the wand's spray does not cover as much surface area at a time as the T-100 does and using the wand results in dirty water on nearby walls, windows, plants and on you.

Bottom line:Benefits of the T-100 are 1) covering a larger surface at a time and 2) not spraying debris all over fences and walls and 3) time saver. These benefits are well worth the small price I paid and makes it a great value to me and a terrific accessory to my home use pressure washer.

I am a 72-year old grandmother and using this T-100 is a no brainer. The extension pieces snap together easily and if you have the storage space you don't have to take it apart--just put it away and it will be ready for your next use.I bought a second T-100 for my daughter and can't wait to hear how she likes it.

Briggs & Stratton 020275 Elite Series 3400 psi 2.8 gpm Gas-Powered Pressure Washer with 30-Feet Hose Review

Briggs & Stratton 020275 Elite Series 3400 psi 2.8 gpm Gas-Powered Pressure Washer with 30-Feet Hosei ordered this on a Friday, for Saturday delivery.I was very surprised they even offered it for such speedy delivery. As it turned out, though, they didn't get it shipped in time to arrive Saturday.I was disappointed, but things have a way of working out for the best.It came on Monday instead (Amazon credited me all shipping costs without my having to even ask -- that's why I buy so much from them so frequently). When I got it out of the box, I could see that oil had been leaking from somewhere. It wasn't from the bottle of oil they send to lubricate the engine, and at first, I was perplexed. As I assembled it, though, I could see some oil around a threaded plug on the top of the water pump. The instructions say that the water pump is sealed, and that you should never service it.So now what to do?The oil had clearly leaked out of it.

So I called customer service. That's why, as it turned out, it was best that it didn't arrive on Saturday.I would have had to wait until Monday anyway, and it would have been really tempting not to wait.

It took awhile to get through to a real person -- 15 minutes or so.When I did, the customer service folks were great. They had no way to know how much oil had leaked out, so they advised me not to start it until I refilled the pump. The pump holds exactly 4 oz of oil. They sent me that exact amount, but meanwhile told me I could buy it locally at Sears or Lowes if I was anxious to use it (which of course, I was).So I went to Sears, and got the oil.The customer service guy told me to remove the drain plug, and turn the whole thing onto its side to drain it.The plug is on TOP of the water pump.As it is, to get it all out, I actually had to turn the washer upside down.Once I had it drained out, I put in exactly 4 oz.As it turned out, I don't really think much had leaked out.Looked like about as much drained out as I ended up putting back in it.But I had peace of mind.

Then I finished the assembly, added engine oil, gas, and followed all the directions for the initial startup.I will say that I find the engine a bit difficult to start. But I'm learning where it likes the choke to be set, and a few other tricks to find the sweet spot, and it is getting easier.I'm not getting any younger or stronger, and it might not be as difficult for a lot of folks.

In operation, it is a great machine.Loud, but aren't they all.Wear ear protection, and hope your neighbors are the kind that will put up with the noise in exchange for your house, driveway, or whatever looking spiffy.I have now done all the aggregate patios, drives, etc. around my house, plus the exterior of the gutters (I live in the mold, algea, moss ridden northwest).I'm completely happy with the quality of the washer itself.I did end up buying the turbo nozzle right away (Sears had it right next to the pump oil; theirs is made by Briggs & Stratton, but cost about $10 less than Amazon's price for the B & S).My advice: if you are doing patios, walkways, etc. get the turbo nozzle. It is a BIG improvement over the most powerful of the ones that comes with the washer.

A final comment: the hose reel isn't all it's cracked up to be.The hose is a bit stiff and doesn't reel on all that easily.Plus the unit itself tips over backward somewhat easily, so when you wind the reel, it wants to tip.I was looking forward to the reel, but I find it to be almost more trouble than its worth -- still, it is ever so slightly worth the trouble.Once the hose is on the reel, it does help it store away more compactly and without hose everywhere.

Bottom lines:I was torn between a four and five star rating.I settled on 4 stars because of the clunky hose reel and the somewhat hard starting engine.Four and a half would probably be more fair.Know that shipping a big piece of equipment like this has some issues. And you do end up having to do the assembly yourself (which wasn't hard, but takes 45 minutes or so).If you find one locally for not much more money than Amazon's very good price, it might be worth it to just buy it from a brick and mortar store. But I couldn't find one locally (one of the John Deere's that Lowe's sells uses the identical engine, and might have been tempting, but it was about $100 more). If you do have any issues on this washer that require customer support, know that Briggs & Stratton's customer support is top notch. That's worth something, when you compare brands.I'd make the same purchase again, complete with UPS shipping and self-assembly.

Karcher 2.640-852.0 Pressure Washer 50-Foot Extension/Replacement Hose Review

Karcher 2.640-852.0 Pressure Washer 50-Foot Extension/Replacement HoseKarcher 50-Foot Extension/Replacement HoseThis hose is NOT made by Karcher as implied in the ad.It did NOT fit the quick-connect ends on my new Karcher G-3025BH, even with the adapter. It DOES seem like a better hose than the 25 foot Karcher hose that came with the pressure washer.I am going to take the 2 hoses to the hardware store to see if they can make them work.My time, my gas....maybe the company that is implying that this non-Karcher hose fits Karcher stuff will pay for my parts at the hardware store?Naaaaa! It is not good business to deceive customers!
